C'est Magnifique has its' roots with basement beginnings
by Josephine and Alfonso Albrizio some time in the early nineteen hundreds.
Establishing a home, 'keeping an eye on MacDougal Street since 1959',
they traveled the world in search in the most unique items they could
find. Boasting a collection of more than 10,000 items from all over the
world,
C'est Magnifique is a true repository of curios from across the globe.
Today, continuing in Alfonso's traditions, Alfred carries on the traits
of the family business since taking over in 1994.
One of the only remaining Silver shops in Greenwich Village, C'est Magnifique
is located at 120 MacDougal Street, between West 3rd and Bleeker Street.
With tall glass cases lining the walls of this dark shoe box-sized store,
the shelves are loaded with snakes, eyes, skulls, crosses, spiders, moons,
stars, eyes, rings, bracelets, eyes, medallions, pendants, and did I
mention the eyes.
Yes, I said the eyes. You can feel them as you pass by on the street.
Calling to you, 'look this way'. As you turn your head you see one, than
another, and another. Until you realize you are being observed by hundreds,
if not thousands of prosthetic eyes. Imbedded in rings, pendants, earrings,
bracelets, pins, skulls, inside a snakes mouth, they are taking
you in from every angle. C'est Magnifique designs the ring or pendant,
and mounts the prosthetic eye into it, a good luck charm representing
'The Third Eye'.
